Employee Injured in Fall from Elevation

At approximately 12:01 p.m. on February 25, 2003, Employee #1, a carpenter for IM Construction Incorporated was framing the second floor walls. While nailing the bottom plate of a wall, he bottom plated a 2-foot-by-4-inch board. The board rolled over causing Employee #1 to lose balance. He fell over the edge of the second floor entry balcony area 11 feet and 3 inches to the floor. As he fell, he grabbed the 2-foot-by-4-inch base plate board and it followed him down, striking him in the face. There were no guardrails in place at the time of the accident. Employee #1 was transported to Mercy San Juan Hospital where he was treated for multiple facial fractures. Employee #1 was hospitalized for his injuries.
