Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 201100351
Event: 09/04/1997
Employee killed when struck by rolling log

Employee #1, a rigging slinger, worked for a small logging contractor. He was operating a cable yarding system to remove downed logs from the private lands of a wood products company. His job was to attach chokers to the logs so they could be moved to a landing for loading onto logging trucks. A turn of several logs was being hauled uphill when one of the logs struck a piece of wood on the ground and became dislodged. The log rolled down the hill and struck Employee #1. He was killed.
