Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 201100625
Event: 05/26/1998
Employee's leg fractured when struck by log

On May 26, 1989, Employee #1, who worked for a small logging contractor, was bumping knots on a landing. A log he was cutting the knots off of rolled and hit Employee #1's leg. As a result, Employee #1's lower left leg was fractured. The landing was level. Another employee was a loader working at the landing opposite Employee #1 and two log lengths away from him. Employee #1 and the other employee could see each other. Neither one could notice anything that made the log move. The other employee stated that he did not bump any logs or the log that struck Employee #1. It was not possible to determine what caused the log to move.
