Employee injured when shot by car burglar

Employee #1 parked his car and was preparing to walk into work when he surprised a thief who was burglarizing other vehicles. The person pulled a gun and shot Employee #1 before fleeing the site. Employee #1 sustained injuries that required hospitalization. The person who shot him was a former employee, but that was not known at the time of the attack and it was not the reason behind the shooting.
