Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 170623961
Event: 11/07/1997
Employee injured in fall from stepladder

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on November 7, 1997, Employee #1 and a coworker, of an electrical services company, were installing fluorescent light fixtures on the suspended ceiling of a grocery store. When Employee #1 tested the lights he found they did not work, so he grabbed a 12 ft fiberglass stepladder to check the fixtures. He fell from what was believed to be the eighth rung of the ladder, fracturing his wrist and elbow; he was hospitalized for one week. At the time of the accident, Employee #1 and his coworker were near the end of their 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. shift.
