Employee injured caught between lift and tract structure

At approximately 8:15 a.m. on January 17, 2002, an employee, working as a lather for Pierce Enterprises, was using the Mast Climbing Work Platform where the lift was missing a safety cage (safety screen). The safety cage was supposed to be installed between the platform and the shaft or track structure. The employee placed his right hand on top of the control panel, between the platform and track structure. As he was moving the lift up by pushing and reaching down the control buttons, his hand got wedged. The employee received cuts and lacerations and was hospitalized.
