EMPLOYEE TRIPS OVER A NAIL-FRACTURES HAND

Employee #1 fell 12 feet onto concrete floor fracturing his hand. He was the foreman on a new construction project of a wooden frame residential townhouse complex. He was on the subfloor of the second level doing snap plate detailing. He was walking backwards pulling two 2 by 4's nailed together. He tripped when His heel caught a nail that was not nailed down completely into the floor. He fell backwards and over the unguarded edge of the 9 feet 8 inch structure onto the concrete floor. He fractured his hand when he struck his left hand on the subfloor before going over. He also struck his head on the concrete breaking his skin but not cracking his skull. He was hospitalized.
