Employee Amputates Finger in Pleat Machine

At approximately 7:47 a.m. on May 11, 2007, an employee was pleating filter segments with a "Nova" pleat machine when a segment "hang-up" on a belt conveyor. She reached behind the conveyor guard to free the segment while the conveyor was running. Her left ring finger was caught between a conveyor belt and a gear and was amputated at the tip. The employee was not hospitalized.
