Employee Is Injured When Struck by Machine

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on October 18, 2006, Employee #1 and a coworker were cleaning selected stations while at the same time maintenance was being performed. Employee #1 was cleaning the new side head rig area where a set of two push up arms were left in the up position. He was between the rail and the push up arms when the maintenance worker activated the air pressure releasing the push up arms to the down position. Employee #1 received fractured ribs, partially collapsed lungs, injuries to the esophagus and was hospitalized.
