Investigation Summary
On April 13, 2005, Employee #1 was operating a mini excavator. He was working at a residential contraction site to install a French drain. Employee #1 left his mini excavator to look at a broken perforated drainpipe in the trench. The equipment operator of a John Deere 210LE Skip Loader backed up to the trench and lowered the blade. He was removing the soil from the edge of the trench when he hit Employee #1 in the back. Employee #1 sustained an injury to his back and a rib. The John Deere equipment operator was not aware of Employee #1's location. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
