Event: 02/01/2005
Employee Falls from Ladder and Fractures Ankle

At 2:00 p.m. on February 1, 2005, Employee #1 was standing on Costco aluminum A-frame ladder, trimming floor joists overhead with a Sawzall. He placed two, identical ladders about one foot apart. He finished one cut and stepped from one ladder to the other to make a second cut. His boot hung up as he stepped, causing him to lose his balance and fall. He landed on his left foot on the edge of two 1 in. by 12 in. boards on the floor. Employee #1's foot turned sideways and his full weight landed on the turned ankle, breaking it. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
