Investigation Summary
Employee #1 fractured her left ankle after jumping from a counter table. She was hanging floral plants above the counter. In order to hang the plants, she had to climb the counter table. To get down, she sat at the edge of the table and jumped to the floor. The distance from the counter table to the floor was estimated to be about 18 inches. As a result, she fractured her left ankle which needed surgery. Her employer reported that a stepladder was available, but she said she was not aware that her work area was provided with one.
