Employee's foot fractured when caught in conveyor drive

Employee #1 was removing waste material at a sawmill that processed logs for manufacturing lumber. He was standing approximately 53 in. above the floor near the chain and sprocket drive of a conveyor when his foot became caught and was fractured when it ran through the sprocket and gear assembly. Employee #1 had worked at the sawmill since 1997, and apparently did not communicate clearly with his coworkers prior to the accident.
