Employee's Are Fingers Crushed When Caught Between Machine

On January 6, 2011, Employee #1, French Cooperage of America, was working in a wine barrel building facility. He placed his hand on top of the wood barrel hoop press, as the arms of the device descended. The press crushed his hand between the machine parts and the top of the barrel. Employee #1's pinky through index fingers of his left hand were cut and crushed, which included multiple fractures of his index, middle and ring fingers. Employee #1 was transported to Queen of the Valley hospital and then moved to the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco for multiple operations to rebuild and align his finger bones with reconstructive surgery.
