Employee killed when pulled into paper winder

On August 18, 1995, Employee #1, a newly assigned employee of Michigan Paperboard Company L.P., was using a flat, braided 5/8 in. cord to cut the tail on a paper winder and thread a new reel with paperboard. The cord was wrapped around his hand. As the cord wound around the new reel, he was pulled into the pinch point of the reel. He sustained multiple fractures and was killed.
