Employee Amputates Fingers On Rotating Gears Of Running Mach

At approximately 12:45 a.m. on July 14, 2017, Employee #1, a machine operator, was opening the guard to the gears of a machine (Machine Number 17) as the machine was running. He placed his right hand into the moving gears. The gears caught his index and middle fingers, thumb on this hand, and amputated them. Employee #1 was transported to a medical center, where he received treatment for the finger amputations and was then hospitalized.
