Investigation Summary
Employee #1 was being trained to operate a 55 ton press. As part of that training, he was removing the dies. He said that when he "stepped back and bumped the foot actuator" the ram started a down operation and caught his hand in the press. Employee #1 stepped forward and the press stopped on top of his hand. A coworker placed the press in reverse and cycled the ram up to release his hand. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
