Employee's hand crushed by closing mold

Employee #1, of Elasco, Inc., was placing valves into molds that would very slowly open and close automatically. The employee was trying to rush and was attempting to place valves into molds ahead of the mold cycle in order to have a period of standby, rush, and standby. In doing so, he placed his hands in a mold already almost closed. He hit the stop button but not before his hand had been crushed. He sustained broken bones and lacerations that required surgery.
