Employee faints from unknown chemical exposure

At approximately 10:15 to 10:30 a.m. on July 29, 1994, Employee #1 fainted and was taken to the emergency room, where she remained for approximately 4 hours before going home. On July 31, 1994, she returned to the emergency room with complaints of nausea and headaches, but was still not admitted. Employee #1 works with parts covered with kerosene (used to facilitate punching operation). No one else on the assembly line reported illness. Levels subsequently monitored for this location for oil mists were below detectable limits. Kerosene, gasoline, toluene, xylene, benzene, and petroleum distillate were below detectable limits. Employee #1 returned to work.
