Employee gets second-degree burns from ruptured water hose

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on April 23, 1995, Employee #1 was using a hoseline to clean under kitchen sinks with hot water. The hoseline ruptured near the nozzle, which was completely opened, and sprayed Employee #1. Hot water between 160 and 180 degrees Fahrenheit sprayed the chest and left arm of Employee #1, causing second-degree burns. The hoseline was a plastic green garden hose that was not rated to handle the high temperatures and pressures at which it was being used.
