Investigation Summary
Employee #1 was standing approximately 3 ft from a logger, watching as he felled a tree in a remote, wooded area. A smaller tree originated from the same stump as the tree that was being felled. An approximately 20 ft long section of the smaller tree broke and fell about 20 ft, striking Employee #1 on the head. He suffered a fractured skull and was killed. Employee #1 was acting within the normal scope of his job duties at the time of the accident.
