Investigation Summary
At approximately 2:00 p.m. on December 21, 1994, Employee #1 and several coworkers, of Henry Brothers Logging, were thinning some trees when a 16 in. diameter tree that had just been cut lodged in an adjacent standing tree. The loggers secured a choker approximately 4 ft from the lower end of the lodged tree. As the yarder operator pulled on the main line to retrieve the 113 ft long tree, it fell in the opposite direction from that intended and struck Employee #1, who was standing approximately 92 ft away from the lodged tree and 35 ft from the road. He died at the scene.
