Fall From Platform Injures Employee

At approximately 6:10 a.m. on August 6, 2003, Employee #1 was working at the Evaporator-drum filler staging area. Employee #1 was standing on a one-step platform unloading top boxes from a pallet for the drum operator. As Employee #1 reached up to remove a 40-lb box of empty bags from the stacked pallet which had been placed on the roller conveyor with a forklift, Employee #1 lost his balance and fell backward a distance of approximately 2 ft. Employee #1 suffered a fracture when he hit his head on the cement wall and floor area. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
