Employee Is Injured in Fall from Ladder

On August 23, 2003, an employee, a maintenance worker, was replacing a light fixture in the company's welding and fabrication shop. The employee was working from a fiberglass extension ladder at a height of nine feet with a coworker holding the base of the ladder. As the employee was using an electrical tester, he came into contact with a live 110-volt wire, which caused him to lose his balance and fall from the ladder. The employee fell on to a welder, which was next to the ladder and suffered a fractured rib and punctured lung.
