Employee amputates hand while cleaning conveyor belt

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on July 8, 2003, Employee #1 of Valhalla Packing Co., was cleaning a conveyor belt in the orange pack line when he slipped and his right hand was caught in a moving, unguarded chain and sprocket drive. The employee sustained a serious injury to his right hand and was taken via ambulance to U.M.C. Fresno, CA., where he was treated for amputation and released.
