Employee's hand and fingers injured in rollers

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on February 15, 1999, Employee #1, was working at the Pet Products, Inc., can plant. He was cleaning his coating machine at the end of his shift when his right hand became caught in the rollers. Employee #1 sustained crushing injuries and lacerations to his fingers, hand, and wrist. He was transported to the Long Beach (CA) Medical Clinic, and later transferred to the Western Hand Center. Examining doctors reported a crushing injury with volar degloving, metacarpal fractures of fingers #2 through #5 proximally, with massive displacement and derangement of the carpal bones into the wrist, and wrist laceration and degloving, with the radius exposed.
