Employee suffers cut in head when struck by falling lumber

Employee #1 was at the storage yard of a pallet manufacturing company, investigating a vendor pickup of manufactured goods. As he was standing by a 16 foot high stack of stored wood shakes, it fell, striking him on the head. Employee #1 fell to the ground. He sustained a fractured hip and required stitches in his head as a result of actions by an outside contractor.
