Employee's finger partially amputated in vegetable shredder

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on June 17, 1992, Employee #1, of Sunny Sally, was cleaning lettuce stuck near the moving blade of a vegetable shredder in the vegetable cutting room when he partially amputated one of the fingers on his left hand. He was taken by paramedics to White Memorial Hospital for treatment. The URSC #EL vegetable shredder was not turned off prior to cleaning. Also, Employee #1 was not given a hand-held tool with which to remove the stuck object. He was unavailable to be interviewed.
