Investigation Summary

On July 17, 2001, Employee #1, a production manager, was working inside a C-17 aircraft near the fuselage in the facility designated for C-17 aircraft manufacturing. The headroom where Employee #1 was working was not high enough to allow him to stretch his head and place it in an erect position. The headroom only measured 66 inches. Moreover, he was looking for a stool, which was on his back. The platform on which he was standing measured 14 feet in length. Instead of turning back to face and reach the stool, Employee #1 twisted the upper part of his body to see the stool on his back. While in that condition, he stooped down to catch the stool with his hands. At that time, he felt a sudden heel pain. This pain continued afterwards. The pain became acute over the next 2 years. After 2 years of pain, Employee #1 decided to have surgery and was hospitalized
