Employee amputates finger on table saw

Employee #1 was attempting to make a pocket cut in a piece of oak that was to be used for a cutting board. He aligned the piece of oak with markings on the table saw's guide and then brought the piece of oak down over the blade to make two cuts. Employee #1, who is left-handed, was making this cut for the first time when the wood kicked back and pulled his hand into the blade, amputating his middle and index fingers.
