Employee Suffers Ruptured Spleen In Fall

Employee #1 was going from the elevated walkway down to the chains. A mill-right was going to install a chain tensioner on the chain conveyor and had de-energized the area. The accident took place in the Re-saw area at the crossover chain conveyor. He climbed over the rails and was going to the floor and lost his footing on a metal guard and fell on the metal housing of a chain drive. After striking the chain drive housing he fell to the ground below. The employee was hospitalized for 5 days with a ruptured spleen.
