Investigation Summary
On October 26, 2006, a carpenter was bending down while using a Hitachi nail gun. He was toe nailing and blocking two sections of wood together with 3.5 in. nails. As he used his nail gun, the nail struck a knot. The nail ricocheted off the knot, bounced back, and struck the employee in the right eye. The employee was not wearing protective eyewear, and he sustained a punctured eye. The employee was not hospitalized.
