EMPLOYEE STRIKES RACK WITH A STRADDLE TRUCK

EMPLOYEE #1, THE STRADDLE TRUCK OPERATOR, WAS BACKING UP AND GOT TOO CLOSE TO A RACK BEFORE TRYING TO STOP. THIS TYPE OF EQUIPMENT WILL NOT STOP UNTIL THE DRIVER RAISES HIS FOOT FROM THE FOOT PEDAL. IF THE DRIVER DOES NOT LIFT HIS FOOT FAST ENOUGH, THE MACHINE WILL NOT STOP IN TIME. THE OPERATOR'S BACK IS NOT PROTECTED ON THIS TYPE OF EQUIPMENT. IF ONE COMES TOO CLOSE TO AN ITEM, THAT PERSON WILL BE INJURED. EMPLOYEE #1 WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE RACK BEFORE TRYING TO STOP. THIS EQUIPMENT WILL NOT STOP LIKE A LIFT TRUCK OR OTHER TRACTORS.
