Employee dies after falling from ladder

At approximately 7:25 a.m. on July 7, 2003, Employee #1, a supervising cook in the main culinary area of the state institution, went to the bean room for a bag of beans. While alone in the room, he used an 8-foot wooden ladder to gain access to an elevated mezzanine where the bagged food was stored. The employee was found lying on his back on the floor with the ladder across the lower part of his legs. He was hospitalized at San Joaquin General Hospital and died 2 days later.
