Employee amputates thumb in a chain

On October 10, 2003, an employee and a coworker of the Wineries Ranch Division were making adjustments to the buckets that covered the chains on the Vinestar. The employee and a coworker worked with their backs to each other. The employees had to lift up the guards to make the adjustments. After an adjustment would be made, the employees would tell the tractor driver to start the chains up to move the buckets forward. As the employee was making an adjustment, the coworker told the tractor driver to start the chain on the Vinestar. The chain moved and the employee's thumb got caught under the bucket resulting in a partial thumb amputation. He was hospitalized and treated for amputation.
