ELECTRIC SHOCK - DIRECT CONTACT WITH ENERGIZED CONDUCTOR

An electrician was stripping armor sheathing from a 12/3 electric cable. He was working in an office building that was being remodeled. His employer, an electrical contractor, energized the circuit without informing his employees. The electrician apparently contacted the 277-volt conductors inside the cable and received an electric shock. He also sustained burns to both hands and was rendered unconscious. The employee, who experienced memory loss and other undetermined injuries, was hospitalized at least until December 15, 1994.
