Employee's leg injured when struck by falling beams and wood

Employee #1 was retrieving some 2 by 4 boards for a bridge project. He went to the wood storage area on the west side of the bridge construction. The boards were banded together and some steel beams were stored on top of them. Employee #1 cut the steel bands holding the lumber together and began to pull boards from the bottom of the approximately 6 ft tall stack. He had removed several boards when the stack collapsed. The steel beams and wood lumber struck Employee #1's left leg, fracturing it.
