Employee Injured Using A Saw

At approximately 11:05 a.m. on February 1, 1999, Employee #1 and two coworkers were shoring an excavation for a sewer line. One coworker told Employee #1 to get a wedge of wood to help shore the excavation. Employee #1 took a Partner K650 gasoline cut-off saw and attempted to cut a 4-in. by 4-in. piece of wood into a wedge. The saw blade jammed and the saw kicked back. The saw blade struck Employee #1's left foot. Employee #1 was taken to the hospital for treatment and was hospitalized for his injuries.
