Employee's finger amputated when caught in machine

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on April 3, 1995, Employee #1 was operating a VMP-1000 machine (company #P-2). She was using her right hand to realign the integrated circuit board at the front of the machine when the mechanical arm activated. It moved toward the front of the machine, striking Employee #1. Her right index finger became caught between the head of the mechanical arm and the feeder, and was amputated to the first joint. Employee #1 was transported by paramedics to Los Rodes Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, CA.
