Employee injured when struck in head by client

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on August 23, 1995, Employee #1, of Casa de Vida, San Luis Obispo, CA, was struck by a fist of a client while she was dressing the client. She suffered a concussion but was not hospitalized. The medical record identified the client as potentially aggressive. The employer's Managing Assaultive Behaviors Guideline required that workers stay at least 3 1/2 ft away from individuals who exhibit aggressive behavior. Employee #1 was within 3 1/2 ft of the client. There were no guidelines for employees when they are within 3 1/2 ft.
