Employee injured when fingers lacerated by spinning paddle

Employee #1 was cleaning the VWM power vacuum machine. He did not deenergize the machine prior to cleaning it. Employee #1 stuck his hand into the area where there was a spinning paddle to clean it. The paddle contacted his fingers and severely injured them. Employee #1 was taken to the hospital for treatment of his lacerated fingers.
