Employee's hand caught in unguarded conveyor

At approximately 11:10 a.m. on January 26, 1994, Employee #1, a general purpose laborer, was shoveling small scraps of hardwood onto a pulper conveyor when he momentarily lost his balance. As he attempted to regain his balance, his gloved left hand contacted the tail pulley/tension pulley of the belt scrap conveyor. He was hospitalized for his injuries. The employer is being issued a citation for T8CCR 3999(b), serious, for the unguarded conveyor nip point.
