Employee Suffers Fractured Ankle

On October 24, 2000, Employee #1, a forklift operator, sustained a spiral fracture of his left leg just above the ankle. Employee #1 was preparing a container for shipping that was set on a wooded pallet. Employee #1 was walking around the 4-ft-by-4-ft by 5-ft-tall container, wrapping it with shrink wrap when his right foot became caught between the boards of the pallet. Employee #1 lost his balance, twisted his left ankle, and fell with all his weight on his left foot and leg. Coworkers came to Employee #1's aid. Paramedics responded and took him to the hospital for medical care. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
