EMPLOYEE PARTIALLY AMPUTATES FINGER IN CAPPING MACHINE

ON OCTOBER 4, 1993, EMPLOYEE #1 AT NABISCO FOODS IN OX, CALIFORNIA, SUFFERED AN INJURY TO HER LEFT INDEX FINGER WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF BOTTLE CAPS FALLING ONTO THE FLOOR. EMPLOYEE #1 BENT OVER TO PICK UP THE BOTTLE CAPS FROM THE FLOOR AND TO PLACE A BOX FOR THE CAPS TO FALL INTO. WHEN SHE STOOD BACK UP, HER LEFT HAND GOT TOO CLOSE TO THE CAPPING MACHINE AND ACCIDENTALLY WENT INTO IT, AMPUTATING THE TIP OF HER INDEX FINGER. EMPLOYEE #1 WAS TAKEN TO THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE, TREATED, AND RELEASED TO A SPECIALIST. THE CALIFORNIA OSHA RESPONDED TO THE ACCIDENT ON OCTOBER 12, 1993, AND ISSUED 342(A) AND 4184(B).
