Investigation Summary
At approximately 2:45 p.m. on March 16, 1995, Employee #1, of a bicycle manufacturer, was using a chop saw to cut a piece of aluminum bar 3/4 in. by 2 in. As he was using his left hand to slide the bar over to cut another piece, his hand slipped and went into the saw blade. The adjustable guard on the chop saw was 3 inches above the bottom of the blade. Employee #1 cut his upper knuckle on the left index finger. He was taken to the hospital, where he stayed for approximately one hour. A citation was issued for not completely enclosing the saw blade.
