EMPLOYEES FINGER AMPUTATED

At approximately 11:00 p.m. on June 20, 1994, Employee #1 was using a pair of oil country powered rod tongs at Taylor Lease well Number 644. Employee #1 had been using his left hand to grab the rods, as they were disconnected from the string. On the 80th rod, Employee #1 grabbed the rod with his left hand but the outer ring and jaw had not opened and the rotating equipment grabbed his glove and pulled his left index into the moving parts of the rod tongs. Another employee took Employee #1 to Community Memorial Hospital for treatment to his amputated left index finger.
