Employee catches hand between two steel beams

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on May 17, 1993, Employee #1, a foreman for the J.F. Shea Company in Lemon Grove, CA, was removing support whalers in a 17 ft wide by 48 ft long and 20 ft deep access shaft. He caught his left hand between two steel beams and was taken by the San Diego Fire Department Paramedics to Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, CA. He was hospitalized for treatment of an open fracture and multiple soft tissue lacerations on his left hand.
