Employee injures arm while stumbling backward

Employee #1 and a coworker were installing 19 ft 6 in. long metal studs for placement of dry wall. Employee #1 was attempting to hand a metal stud up to a coworker in a hydraulic lift approximately 14 ft above the floor. He stepped into a floor hole/expansion joint and stumbled backward, striking his forearm on the sharp edge of a metal stud. He was hospitalized with a lacerated arm.
