Investigation Summary
At approximately 9:45 a.m. on April 4, 1996, Employee #1, of Brandon International in Irwindale, CA, was using a table saw with a 10 in. round rip saw blade to cut some wood. He was pushing through a piece of wood when his left thumb struck against the blade and was amputated. Employee #1 and the company's personnel contractor both stated that a guard was not in place at the time of the accident. A guard was present at the time of inspection.
