Employee Suffers Amputation Of Finger

At approximately 8:15 a.m. on July 19, 2001, Employee #1 was cutting blocks of wood to reduce the width. The table saw had a hood guard, anti-kickback device, and spreader in place. Employee #1 was not using a push stick at the time of the accident. Employee #1 was able to cut several pieces of the wood when a piece of wood located on his left side kicked back and hit his hand, causing his hand to flip over and cut his finger. Employee #1's middle left finger was amputated. Employee #1 was treated for his injury but was not hospitalized.
